As our Scholars program continues to grow, we are committed to providing support so that undergraduates may excel, persist in college, graduate, and enter the teaching profession as highly effective teachers in schools-of-need. We serve a diverse mix of students, who largely are students of color and first in their families to attend college, they sometimes require financial support beyond that of the average student.
To address barriers that our Scholars face as undergraduates, our Supports team works diligently to provide academic and social-emotional support. Additionally, Scholars receive tuition assistance to help offset the cost of school. However, there are times when this assistance is not enough to meet some Scholars’ needs. Unexpected costs - like those from medical expenses, car maintenance, or housing costs - can impact students dramatically. The Scholar Emergency Fund seeks to address this need.
The obstacles low-income college students face are challenging. They are not able to earn enough while working and going to college to pay for all of their necessary expenses. Since the onset of COVID-19, we have seen how this pandemic has exacerbated financial hardships for our Scholars. By donating to this fund, you are helping to alleviate these financial stressors and allowing Scholars to focus their efforts on their studies and ultimately their teaching careers.
Join us in this effort to support our Scholars in need by making a donation to the Scholar Emergency Fund today.
